What to do to
Win We poets have always written of Spring. With its endless supply of inspiration, Spring produces a profusion of poetic possibilities. April is also Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. The combination of the two celebrations gives us the perfect opportunity to write optimistic and positive poetry on the topic of child abuse. Some of you may find this task difficult, but I ask you to search within yourself to find the hope that comes with Spring. We, as child abuse survivors, should celebrate our own survival. This will be the topic for the 6th Annual Child Abuse and Recovery Poetry Contest. Here are the guidelines:
· Theme-Celebrating Survival · Poems should be no longer than thirty lines. · Poem must have a title. · Poems Must Reflect A Positive Attitude · May submit two poems per person · Deadline-Midnight May 31st, 2004. · Must include name or pen name and a working e-mail address. · Contest is open to any member of Suite101, including Editors. Membership is free.
Rating-1-5 Stars Based on these 5 criteria: That's it! Good Luck!

The Purple Ribbon Campaign The Purple Ribbon Campaign is a provincial initiative to raise awareness on the issues of child abuse and to promote community involvement to help put an end to child abuse and neglect. Every year, the campaign is held in October, coinciding with “Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month”. In 2002, the York Region Children’s Aid Society, along with several other agencies in the GTA, kicked off the campaign by distributing thousands of ribbons during the morning rush hour at several TTC subway locations. 2004 marks the 12th Anniversary of the Purple Ribbon Campaign. Over 100,000 ribbons will be distributed throughout the province. By the end of October, we hope that everyone in our community will know how they can help prevent child abuse and neglect. For more information on the Purple Ribbon Campaign and how you can help, please call 1-800-718-3850 ext. 219.
