The town of Blacksburg is located in Cherokee County in the Upstate of South Carolina. Easily accessible from I-85 it is only 45 miles southwest of Charlotte, NC and 40 miles northeast of the Greenville-Spartanburg area. The town was founded in 1888 and continues to enjoy a small town atmosphere. The population of Blacksburg proper is approximately 1,880 (2000 Census) The population of Greater Blacksburg is 9,655 (2000 Census) The distance from Blacksburg to the South Carolina state capital is 115 miles.
