Brief History of  Saint Dominic High School

Saint Dominic High School, formerly St. Dominic Jr. College in Palaris Street is 35 years old this 2000.  It was founded by the late Ricardo G. Magleo, B.S.E. M.A. (UP), together with enterprising non-educators but educationally inclined.  The Board of Trustees intended to offer the secondary course only in  this school.

The Saint Dominic High School named after the Parton Saint of San Carlos City Parish.  Although the name if of religious background, the school is nevertheless non-secretarian.

The Department of Education Culture and Sports granted authority to the St. Dominic Jr. College to offer  a four year course in Liberal Arts and Typewriting and Stenography in addition to the secondary course.

The St. Dominic High School was transfered to its present site in Taloy District, San Carlos City, Pangasinan in June 1976.  Three semi-permanent buildings with adequate water supply appropriate library and laboratory rooms and lighting facilities and twenty well ventilated and standard classrooms were occupied, as a result of an increased student population.

The Collegiate courses of St. Dominic Jr. Colleges wer phased out in 1976 and were offered at the Virgen Milagrosa Educational Institution now VMUF (Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation) constituting the institute of Arts and Sciences with Mr. Marcelo G. Casillan as the first Dean, who at the sametiem ws teh Vice President for Academic Affairs VMEI.

The phasing out of the collegiate course necessitated teh amendment of the name of he school  to St. Dominic High School as embodied in its Constitution and By-Laws and as registered with the securities and exchange commission.  The task was given to the school principal by the school president, the late  Dr .Martin Posadas.
