It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Entropy, Chaos, and Kipple Strike Again!

Entropy: measurement of chaos or disorder in a system; Chaos: basically disorder; Kipple: from the book by Philip Dick, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep also known as BladeRunner. Kipple was describe as the bit of mess or chaos that starts in the corner of a room and gradually makes its way across the room. This is a reference on the way I think and of this site. I suppose I should also include fuzzy logic in the title because that is how I work and justify things-- very fuzzily.

This is your Captain speaking. I just wanted to say hello to my sister and I hope you'll enjoy this current wave you are surfing on. If anything it will be a very interesting trip. Whatever you do, do not encourage the natives. This place is not called Utter Lunacy for no reason. Before you leave, feel free to leave a little message describing how much you enjoyed your surfing-- or hated it. Up to you. If you would like to read the lyrics of a song that describes your Captain's current state of mind, click here. This is the only real reason that I keep this page active. That and the fact it gives me something to do every now and then and a place to show off a bit of myself without paying anything. If you want to find out a bit more about your Captain click here. This is your Captain signing off.

Amendment to Above Definition of Entropy: All right. I put down a definition of entropy that I figured most people would understand. However, a well meaning person(at least I hope well meaning) has basically informed me that I am leading the lot of you astray. So, I being a good chemistry student (I do have an 'A' in the class so far) feel it is now my duty to give the proper definition of entropy as found in two college chemistry textbooks.

Entropy(as defined in his textbook Chemistry by Steven Zumdahl) Entropy can be viewd as a measure of randomness or disorder; the number of arrangments(positions and/or energy leveles) that are available to a system existing in a given state; and if seen from the view of the second law of thermodynamics: in any spontaneous process there is always an increase in the entropy of the universe.

Entropy(as defined in the texbook Chemistry & Chemical Reactivity by John C. Kotz and Paul Treichel, Jr.): Entropy is a measure of the disorder of a system; as seen with the second law of thermodynamics, whenever anything happens, matter energy, or both become more dispersed or disordered. This means that a product-favored reaction is accompanied by an increase in the entropy of the universe.
If anyone is still confused about the definition of entropy, go here. Personally, I still like the measure of disorder or chaos in a system, but that's just me.

"Sing" from the movie Sing

There's a wind comin' off the river
Blowin' out the lights
The city's being swallowed by the night
As I walk the streets and shiver
I've got a choice
I could swallowed too
And lose my way as millions do
Or I could raise my head and raise my voice

(chorus)
Sing!
When the feeling gets too strong for words
When I'm ready to break through
Sing!
When the song in me demands to be heard
There's only one thing I can do
I sing:
Na na na whoa
Na na na hey
I can do anything
When I sing

And I'm searching for salvation
Down a long, lonely road
And every day's another heavy load
I've got a find a way
To say the things I've got to say
Cuz if I don't let go I will explode

chorus

When you're young
You're told to hold your tongue
But now I found my voice
And I've got to make some noise
