ENGINE 321

Our series of KME fire engines are truly unique in that each of them are designed to serve as a first-in attack engine, a tanker, or a water point refill pumper. You can see these trucks truly meet this difficult challenge.

Engine 321 is a 1996 KME Renegade MFD, one of six that South Lynches Fire Department currently has in service. It is equipped with a 1,500 GPM Waterous CSUYX pump and carries a load of 1250 gallons of water in a UPF poly tank.

Engine 321 has an aluminum body built with rescue style compartmentation. It is equipped with five 1 3/4" preconnected hose lines, one 2 1/2 " preconnected hose line, one thousand feet of 5" supply line, and a pre-piped Extenda-Gun deluge gun with Stinger tips.

A Cummins M11-320-E powers Engine 321 and an Allison World MD3060 Transmission carries the power to the wheels and pump. A Jake Brake helps keep this power under control. In this picture you can see the ladder and dump tank compartments made into the tank by UPF.

In this picture you can see one of the unique characteristics of Engine 321, what we call the Squirrel Tail. This is a 24 feet long piece of semi-rigid preconnected suction hose with a full flow swivel. The Squirrel Tail allows us to quickly and easily draft from rural water points with a limited number of personnel.

Engine 321 also carries a first responder bag, an oxygen kit, backboards and cervical collars, and Hurst extrication equipment: a cutter spreader combination tool and a Honda powered pump.
