11/19/04 - Lightning Bolt added to Melbourne Street Sign!

A Melbourne artist called "Knifeyard" has apparently used his artistic skills to add a lightning bolt to the sign at ACDC Lane in Melbourne. As Legislation had prohibited the band's iconic lightning bolt or a slash from separating the AC from the DC. Knifeyard decided to take the matter the into his own hands and made a massive lightning bolt out of the same metal used in street signs and bolted it above and below the ACDC street sign with a hammer drill!

11/5/04 - DualDisc to be officially released

Several record labels including EMI Music, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and 5.1 Entertainment Group/Silverline Records, announced plans to introduce DualDisc, a new music product. DualDisc is a two-sided disc made up of a CD on one side and a DVD on the other.

One of the titles scheduled to be released is the DualDisc version of AC/DC's "Back in Black". This title was one of the original releases that were previously released in the test makets of Boston & Seattle only.

9/14/04 - Florida Charity Reviews

Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams rocked the crowd like a Hurricane in Florida as they helped raise thousands for charity. Taking to the stage with local musicians the AC/DC legends treated the crowd to some classic AC/DC tracks and even performed TNT twice. They played it twice because Brian's voice gave out the first time.....I'll say that worries me a bit, but he said it was because he hadn't had enough time to rehearse.

Australia's The Age is reporting that after weeks of speculation, Melbourne's Corporation Lane will be renamed ACDC Lane in a move described last night as a victory for rock 'n' roll!

9/8/04 - Brian and Cliff to headline benefit concert

Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams are to headline a benefit concert in aid of the victims of Hurricane Charley.

The concert will be held at the Germain Arena Estero on September 10th and is sponsored by the radio station 96 K-Rock.

Proceeds from the show will benefit the American Red Cross and the Hurricane Charley Disaster Relief fund.

8/3/04 - Brian Johnson joins Twisted Sister!

Brian Johnson made a guest appearance at the Rock and Blues Custom Show 2004 at Penrich Derbyshire England, on Saturday July 31st! Brian joined Twisted Sister during their set and performed a version of Whole Lotta Rosie with Dee Snider!

7/29/04 - Former AC/DC Tribute to Release Debut Album

A former AC/DC tribute band will release their debut album "Up the Crack" under the band name of Boned coming this August. More details available at perrisrecords.com

I can honestly say that I am totally amped up for this release. For any of you die hard fans who went out and got the Rhino Bucket albums, you know what I mean. We can only hope this will be just as good.


7/19/04 - Updates on the proposed AC/DC lane, and new album and tour not until 2005!

AC/DC guitarist Angus Young has told Australia's The Age that the group are completing work on a new album, with a release and tour scheduled for next year. He also said they would consider playing a gig at "ACDC Lane" - the proposed new name of "Corporation Lane" in Melbourne's central business district as a tribute to Australia's most successful band.

7/14/04 - Back in Black hits 20 Million in sales in the US!

According to billboard.com, "Back in Black" has been certified by the Recording Industry Association of America as selling over 20 million copies in the USA.

This qualifies the album for a second diamond award, which was instituted by the music industry trade group in 1999 for albums that have passed the 10 million barrier.


6/21/04 - Brian films segment for TV series

According to crabsodyinblue.com AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson recently spent a week in Greece filming an episode for the syndicated television series "Goddess Odyssey".

On the trail of Helen Of Troy, the renowned rock singer traveled through remote areas of Greece seeking out the shrines, temples, paths and journeys of the woman whose face launched a thousand ships and whose passion led to the downfall of a civilization. Brian also shared music from his upcoming musical theater production "Helen of Troy". A woman wronged, a legend before her time or a shipbuilder's best friend: the myths, the legends, the realities uncovered on a modern day journey by one of rock 'n' roll's finest.

The episode will air in the fall in the United States.


6/14/04 - Bon Scott named number one frontman!

In a list featured in the July 2004 issue of the UK Rock magazine "Classic Rock", Bon Scott was listed as number 1 in a list of the 100 greatest frontmen!

The magazine also features an article on AC/DC from 1976, and it should be noted that Brian Johnson came in at number 32!

It was a case of a bad day at the office for De Luca Racing at the Watkins Glen Historic Racing as a carburetor problem left Brian Johnson trailing off the pace and finishing 37th in a 44-car field on the Rolex Vintage Endurance race on the Sunday.

5/21/04 - Thunderstruck Movie opened May 20th in Australia

'Thunderstruck,' an Austrailan road movie (produced by Mel Gibson's Icon Films) about 4 AC/DC fans traveling accross Australia, premiered May 16th in Sydney, and will be released in Australia on May 20th.

The CD Soundtrack does not featue AC/DC but a cover band playing 'Its A Long Way To The Top,' and 'Jupiter's Landscape' by Bon's pre-AC/DC band Fraternity.

5/21/04 - AC/DC Radio program scheduled for BBC World Service

On Monday May 24th the BBC World Service turns the volume up to 11 with AC/DC, whose classic riffs and heavy rocking ways have seen them at the top of the rock tree for 30 years. With rare interviews from their legendary frontman Bon Scott, who died in 1980, we trace their early years, from playing wild bars round Australia, on to conquering the world with 'Highway To Hell'. After Scott's death, the band swiftly replaced him with gravel voiced Geordie Brian Johnson, to record 'Back In Black', which for many is THE all-time rock classic, and is one of the biggest selling records of all time. AC/DC remain one of the most popular live acts, and we hear just how they keep on producing rock classics...

FALLUJAH, Iraq - In Fallujah's darkened, empty streets, U.S. troops blast AC/DC's "Hell's Bells" and other rock music full volume from a huge speaker, hoping to grate on the nerves of this Sunni Muslim city's gunmen and give a laugh to Marines along the front line.

4/30/04 - Mark Evans in car wreck

Former AC/DC bass player Mark Evans was treated for minor neck injuries after being involved in a crash in the taxi he was being driven in. Thankfully Mark hopes to be back playing with his good friend Dave Tice (formerly of Buffalo) at gigs in Sydney Bridge Hotel on the 4th and 11th of May.

4/30/04 - New AC/DC Tribute band formed for Thunderstuck soundtrack!

Members of The Living End, Spiderbait, Grinspoon and You Am I make up a band called The Jack who cover the songs of AC/DC for the upcoming movie Thunderstruck. The Jack are Phil Jameson (Grinspoon), Janet English (Spiderbait), Davie Lane (You Am I), Kemstar (1200 Techniques), Travis Demsey (ex Living End) and Bodhan Dower (Sender).

The movie Thunderstuck hits Australian cinemas on May 20.

4/30/04 - Warner Music Canada is set to release 'SARStock' DVDs

A two DVD set of the SARStock concert is set to be released on June 22nd. The set called Toronto Rocks!, will feature performances by concert headliners the Rolling Stones, as well as the 12 other acts on the bill, including AC/DC, Rush and the Flaming Lips.

1/21/04 - Brian talks about new album!

AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson told Italy's Rock Hard Magazine that the band will definitely come out with a new studio album in 2004 and that guitarist Angus Young has written "harder" riffs than what appeared on their last studio album, Stiff Upper Lip. Brian also said he will be handling lyrics this time around, which would be the first time since 1988's Blow Up Your Video! A world tour would also coincide with the new album.
