The bulk of my experiences come from GORP.com (Great Outdoors Recreation Pages), a travel-adventure website. Initially I was hired in the Summer of 2000 as a Data-Entry Assistant. For the summer I worked on improving GORP's trails database. In Fall of 2000 I was asked to join the Production Team. I was responsible for various HTML updates and site revisions - e.g. U.S. Outdoor Guides, City Weekenders, Top Twenty, GORP Expert Articles. Although I was part of a team, the majority of my work was with minimal supervision. As time went on and the Internet Industry became unstable, many of my team members and other co-workers were relieved of their positions. With less workers but the same amount of work, I was asked to assist both with our affiliated client sites as well as GORP's graphics department.
The client hosting sector of GORP.com required me to consult both national and international clients with their site updates, revisions, and scheduling. Some sites I have worked on are as follows: Lyons Press, Wilderness Press, Sunnyland Tours, etc.
Within GORP's graphics department I was responsible for scanning and resizing photos for GORPtravel.com's database. These pictures can be viewed on GORPtravel.com by searching and viewing through the various vacation packages.
My last few months at GORP allowed me to assist in all aspects of the business. I assisted with updates, graphics, search engine listings, e-mail notifications/mailings, production of advertising ads, and etc. Unfortunately, my time at GORP ended prior to Away.com's acquirement of this great travel-adventure site. However, GORP still exists, and offers great vacations, guides, and tips to outdoor recreation! I am very greatful to have been apart of this company!!
