The Neverending Story

The NeverEnding Story was released by Warner Brothers in 1984. Wolfgang Peterson (In the Line of Fire, Air Force One) directed the production. It was based on the 1979 novel of the same name written by Michael Ende.

The name Bastian gives The Childlike Empress is "Moonchild".
Michael Ende was unhappy with the film version of his novel, so he refused that his name be listed at the beginning of the film. There is a small credit to him at the end.
The original Auryn from the movie is hanging in Steven Spielberg's office.
The film won the 1985 Bavarian Film Award for Best Production.
The film had the highest budget of any film produced in Germany at the time it was made.
The NeverEnding Story in german is Unendliche Geschichte, Die.
Noah Hathaway also played Boxey the young boy with the mechanical daggat on the Battlestar Galactica T.V. show.
Noah Hathaway was six years old when he filmed his first Galactica segment.
That was six years before he began filming The NeverEnding Story.
Barret Oliver has done commercials for McDonald's, Goodyear Tires, Visa, Security Pacific Bank, Marineland and Hertz.

Falkor was a 43 foot long motorized creature covered with over 6,000 plastic scales and pink feather fur.


The Auryn

The Auryn is the Childlike Empress's golden amulet that Atreyu wore during his quest to save Fantasia. The Auryn protects and guides the bearer and shows to all that he is the Empress's representative. The Auryn consists of two snakes, one gold, one silver, each biting the other's tail. Bastian discovered an inscription on the reverse side: Do What You Wish " ...The words gave him permission, ordered him in fact, to do whatever he pleased".
