West Indies Batting Collapse

(4/7/00)

The West Indies went down to England in the second test. A huge batting collapse gave the Poms a victory. Englands bowlers did the damage to the West Indies. They made only 53, the third lowest total by the West Indies. The lowest total is 51 which Australia did last year. This shows how badly the West Indies can loose when they have a bad day.

The series is now 1-1. The West Indies need to bounce back from this defeat with a number of One-Dayers coming up.

Contracted players named

(2/5/00)

The 25 contracted players were named yesterday and Tom Moody, Adam Dale and Stuart Law were three players that missed out. The players that made it were:

Michael Beven, Greg Blewett, Matthew Elliott, Damien Fleming, Adam Gilchrist, Jason Gillespie, Ian Harvey, Matthew Hayden, Michael Hussey, Michael Kasprowicz, Simon Katich, Justin Langer, Brett Lee, Shane Lee, Darren Lehmann, Damien Martyn, Stuart MacGill, Glenn McGrath, Colin Miller, Ricky Ponting, Michael Slater, Andrew Symonds, Shane Warne, Mark Waugh, Steve Waugh.000156.jpg (22188 bytes)

In other news, Australian captain Steve Waugh got a pay rise of an extra $95,000. Waugh's retainer jumped to $315,000 and if he plays a full Test and One-day program for Australia in the next season, he stands to earn a total of $600,000. Waugh will become the highest paid player in ACB history. He deserves this pay rise because of guiding Australia to a record 10 Test victories and a number of one-day victories as well.

South Africa beat Australia

(20/3/00) South Africa beat Australia on Sunday winning by 4 wickets. Australia's batsmen limped to just 205 runs despite a gutsy performance by captain inline.jpg (13140 bytes)Steve Waugh who battled to 51 off 81 balls. Michael Beven made 33 while Harvey and Warne made a useful 38 and 32.

In the South African innings, Australia bowled well in the first 15 overs but the all rounders Shane Lee and Ian Harvey didn't back up their performance.

Brett Lee bowled the fastest delivery in modern times at 156km. He bowled very well with figures of 3 for 23 in his ten overs. He bowled with venom in every delivery he bowled getting to 156km twice.

West Indies increase winning streak

(20/3/00) Yesterday, the West Indies increased their winning streak beating Pakistan. Despite a Pakistan fight back, the West Indies held on to record another win.
