Summary of "The Raven"
Stanza 3:
And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
Thrilled me- filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating
"'Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door-
Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door;-
This it is, and nothing more."
Paraphrased Stanza 3:
And the soft rustling of each purple curtain
Made me nervous- filled me with strange fears I'd never felt before
So that, in order to calm myself, I repeated to myself
"It's just a visitor asking to come in my door-
Just a late visitor asking to come in;-
That's all it is; nothing more."
