Can't Say Why I Love You

Chapter Thirteen

Over the next two days, things got more and more tense in between Katie and A.J., partly because they all had to share hotel rooms. There had been mix-ups with the reservations, so Katie ended up having to share a room with Kevin instead of having one to herself. Kevin had been acting preoccupied because of Linz, and it was rubbing off on Katie. When they went to another city and Katie finally got a room to herself again, she decided that what she needed the most was to spice up the relationship a little bit.

That night when she knew that he was taking a shower, she slipped into his room, locked the door, and got onto the bed. She got undressed so that she was only wearing some sheer lingerie that she'd gotten the other day just for A.J. Katie lay back on the bed, checking her appearance quickly in the mirror, and her heart beat faster when she heard the water turn off inside the bathroom.

A.J. sighed to himself as he wrapped a towel around his waist and ran a comb through his hair. He didn't want to do what he was about to, but he knew that he had to, otherwise he would just get hurt even more. He stepped out of the bathroom.

"Hello, A.J.," Katie murmured in a low voice when he laid eyes upon her. He was so surprised that he dropped the towel. She raised an eyebrow. "Well, well, well, we—" She was cut off as he climbed onto the bed and kissed her with an unparalleled intensity.

A.J. couldn't help but feel a little bit guilty as he took off the little clothing on her that there was to take off. He knew that he shouldn't be doing it, but he couldn't help himself. I'll break up with her tomorrow, he resolved as he pulled Katie closer to him.

The next afternoon, Kevin, Brian, Nick, and Howie decided to go shopping in L.A., but A.J. stayed at the hotel, which worried the other guys, since they knew how much A.J. loved shopping. "You're sure you don't want to come, man?" Howie asked his friend.

"Yeah, I've got some stuff to take care of," A.J. replied.

"What kind of stuff?" Brian wanted to know.

"Just stuff," A.J. said, and the tone of his voice discouraged the guys from asking any more questions.

"Okay, well...call my cell if you change your mind," Howie instructed A.J.

A.J. grinned weakly. "Which one, D?"

"Very funny, Bone," Howie retorted.

"Ooh what a comeback," A.J. shot back, forgetting about what the "stuff" was for a second.

Howie glared at him as the four guys walked away down the hall to Katie's room. A.J. watched as they knocked on Katie's door and Kevin said something. She shook her head, and Kevin hugged her before the guys walked away, and she shut the door. A.J. took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a second, gathering up his nerve. He hadn't been able to resist her last time, and he wasn't at all sure that he would be able to this time either. A.J. went up to her door and knocked on it. When she opened it, he saw that she was wearing only a silk bathrobe.

"Come in," she murmured, stepping out of the way.

He went into the room and walked over to the window, not daring to look at her. "Katie, I have to talk to you."

"Shh," she whispered, going to him and wrapping her arms around his neck from behind him. "We can do that later. But now, Kevin and the guys won't be back for another hour at least..." She started to rub the muscles in his neck. "Wow, you're tense."

He turned back to her. "There's a reason."

"Well, whatever it is, I bet I can make you forget about it," she mumbled, pulling him to her and kissing him.

A.J. groaned as he felt his motivation from before crumble into dust. She took his hands and took him over to the bed. He found himself following her lead and pulling some the covers back. As she got onto the bed and pulled him with her, he completely forgot why he had come to her room in the first place and let himself become lost in her kisses.
