Christmas Wish

I only have one Christmas wish this year

It is for my mother who wishes my father were here

All she does is cry and I do not know what to do

So I am hoping to get a little help from you

Every year on Christmas Eve flowers to my mother my father would send

And on the Eve of Christmas a quiet night together they would spend

He would sing to my mother her favorite song

And with him she would eventually sing along

You could tell they were very much in love

So I am praying for some small miracle from above

That on Christmas Eve flowers would be left outside our door

With a note that read, “As each day passes I love you even more.”

For these flowers to my mother meant an awful lot

They were worth more then any present she ever got

And I know flowers does not seem to be a perfect gift to give

But it would give my mother hope and the will to want to live

So if it meant never again would I receive one single toy

It would be worth it to see my mother live a life filled with joy

So if you could find it in your heart to make my wish come true

I would know my letter Santa did indeed reach you

The boy fell asleep with the letter in his hand

And it never got mailed as he had planned

On Christmas Eve their door bell ranged and ranged and ranged

When his mother opened the door Silent Night was the song the carolers sang

And by our door were flowers and this is what the card had said,

“My darling, don’t be afraid of what lies ahead

As each day passes I love you even more

You were the gift in my life I had prayed for.”

The mother turned to her son with tears pouring down her face

And on the mantle the flowers she did place

The boy ran to his room and there was the letter he never sent

And straight to his mother the little boy went

He told his mother the one wish for her he had on Christmas Eve

She looked at him and said, “In your heart always believe.”
