Used Bookstore

A title like a soothsayer,
predicting the future.
A wall of titles
like crayons arranged in a box:
the neon and fluorescent colors
used most often;
the original blue, green and red
a must have;
and the rest untouched.
Titles like candles,
hoping to be seen
before their time passes.
Others like chandeliers--
the elite--
lasting forever.
Each begging for attention.
I pass over them
until the one
whispers gently to me
I knew you would come,
I’ve been waiting for you.
