Black & White

Her beautiful light feathers,
white as the mountain tops,
now covered!
Thick, black, heavy goop
cover them like butter.
She picks at it with her beak,
trying to clean it off,
but it’s like peanut butter,
sticking to the inside of her beak.
She chokes and gasps for air.
The weight of the black fluid
bears down on her,
dragging her frail body to the ground.
