Fashion Week 2006: Designers Showcase Fall Lines

The world’s top designers are showing off their fall 2006 collections under the tents in Bryant Park. Click on the links below for NY1’s extensive coverage of Olympus Fashion Week.

Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs, the deserving darling of the fashion world, showed his fall collection at the Lexington Avenue armory, shunning the tents again this year.

The haunting music of Philip Glass accompanied the models as they emerged from a post industrial skyline wearing oversized knit caps, slouchy pants layered with dresses, leather elbow-length gloves, boxy coats and super luxurious fabrics in grays, greens, stones and taupes. Jacobs punched up the murky fall colors with shimmery and shiny accents that he likened to the flecks of glitter in New York asphalt.

La Coste and Oakley

Whether you want to ski the alps or hit some tennis balls in the Hamptons, sportswear is out of the locker room and on the runway as two of the most popular brands filled the tents Saturday night. Lacoste, the one with the longest pedigree, had the first serve.

As Karl Lagerfeld transformed the Chanel brand, Christophe Lemaire has contemporized and colorized La Coste, making it fresh fun and reminiscent of old school hip-hop with his neon beats pumping from a giant boom box.
