Swingers in Romantic England

Lord Byron
One of the famous poets in the Romantic Period of England
I snort at that statement
I know better about him
How, ye ask me?                                                                                                                                                                                                                          5
I was a back alley harlot in Venice
I was covered in the dirt of streets and the upper class
You would not have liked me if you had met me at first
It is easy to see why
I was crude and could not even spell my own name                                                                                                                                                                   10
They were going to send me away to that icy dirty prison known as a convent
But, Byron himself came along and saved me
My heart sang in great brightly colored joy
I thought that I had found my knight in shining white armor to come and take me away from my misery                                                                                    15
However, he had his own hidden little agenda to him
You see, my former lover was in wedlock
But like most normal men, Byron hated his wife
(Why is it that men always turn to us loose women as an escape from their wives?
Do they not know that they have to return home to them sometime?)                                                                                                                                        20
Byron just used me!
He used me like a cheap little wooden doll!
But, I’m not his only victim
That louse hates women!
Educated women are the worst for him!                                                                                                                                                                                     25
Byron despises women that are just as smart as him or more!
That toad does not want a woman criticizing his poetry!
He believes that when a woman isn’t talking, she is thinking
My former lover hates it when a woman thinks too much
That’s why he despises his wife so much                                                                                                                                                                                   30
So, “Lord” Byron lies in the beds of harlots and loose uneducated women like I once was
He even slept with his half-sister and got her pregnant during a storm!
Bryon’s friend Percy Shelley is no saint either!
Shelley got thrown out of university for being an atheist.
He even left his pregnant wife for Mary when she was only sixteen years old!                                                                                                                          35
(I think it’s disgusting! Mary was only a child! At least they got married after the first wife died)
Byron and Shelley’s friends act like commoners
They are all unfaithful to each other, with each other
They don’t really care about what happens in the future
Byron and his friends just want to have fun!                                                                                                                                                                               40
But what of me?
I learned how to read in order to impress “Lord” Byron
When I read one of his poems out loud to him
I suddenly became one of his infamous objects of hate
He threw me out onto the street where I came from!                                                                                                                                                                  45
“Lord” Byron
I would think not!
And this is the man they say wrote She Walks in Beauty Like the Night!
