The Land of the Rising Sun

What do people think of when they hear the word “Japan?” Anime? Cherry blossoms? Sushi? Japan is all of this and more. I really want to go to Japan? Why? I have many reasons. A few good ones are culture, history, and trends. I have always loved the country since I was twelve or thirteen years old. Ever since then, my love for Japan has been growing. Anime and my seventh grade teacher, Mrs. Lewis, have started my interests. I am even in a Japanese Culture Club in my school. I believe that this trip to Japan will height my knowledge and experience of the whole country.

The culture of Japan has always fascinated me the most. The country is a mix of old and new. The people of Japan have managed to adapt to the modern world while holding onto their old traditions and values. I am impressed about how they keep this balance so very well. Japan has managed to embrace their history with pride and move ahead with the future. Because of Japan’s culture, they seem to have their lives and futures put together in a nice and stable row. They are both strict and laid back with their morals, laws, and ideals. As a result, Japan is a country that sets good examples about how a nation’s people should be.

Along with the culture comes the history. I have learned about Japan’s history through books in my library. I am still learning through my Japanese culture club. However, they say the best the way to learn is to experience something firsthand. If I get to go to Japan, I will live more about Japan’s history for myself up-close.

History then leads into modern trends. I am really amazed at what Japan thinks is popular. I have learned about most of the trends from my club, the internet, my aunt, and my best friend. However, I feel like I am only getting a little taste of the country’s pop culture. That is not enough. I want more. In going to Japan, I will experience all of the trends in Japan firsthand.

I really want to go to Japan to learn all about it and enjoy it firsthand.
