A Trip Back Into Time

For this assignment, we had to do a historical poem. I really did like this assignment because we got to do it in free verse. I do my best at free verse. I enjoyed this assignment so much that I wrote two poems. One about Lord Byron and the other about John Lennon’s death. Now, when writing about history, there has to be some research done to make it accurate. For the Byron poem, I looked up some about him for some dirt. I got the idea from my mom talking about a movie to aunt. It peeked my interest so I decided to do a little research. It turns out, Byron did have an affair with his half-sister. I typed him up on Google and learned a little more about his death. I took all of his singles and used them as lines in the poem as well. For this and Byron, I took common knowledge from my memory, combined it with a little research, and put it all to good use. The results really played in my favor at the end.
