Crooked People

Not everybody in the world is an angel. There are people out there who will use and harm people for the pure sport of it. Sociopaths do exist in this world. They only are out for themselves and do not really care about who they hurt to get what they want. Everything is not always sunshine and lollipops. Evil is a real and sometimes staring a person right in the face. The king and the duke serve to remind people of that little fact. They claim to be royalty and honest men. But in reality, they are nothing but a pair of crooks inventing various scams to con people out of so much money. Twain is one for delivering the truth to his audience. He does not want to sugarcoat anything at all. That is why he is celebrated in the literature world. His characters are never really innocent at all. Twain made Huck wise enough to realize what the king and the duke really are. The boy says this as a realization, “It didn’t take long to make up my mind that these liars warn’t no kings nor dukes, at all, but just low-down humbugs and frauds.” (Pg. 192) But what can he do really? Huck is just a kid and Jim does not know any better due to the lack of education the slaves had during that time period. So all they can do is just go along with the plan until they can escape. Lucky for mankind, a balance does manage to exist in this world in the end.
