Cold Care Taker

Six weeks had passed. Noiz had nicely began a part of the Animal House family. Rob enjoyed having her around. The boys all liked having her there. She was like a ray of sunshine to them. Noiz got them equal rights of the campus houses. Plus, she drove Artemis insane in the process. No matter what he tried to pull, Noiz just wouldn't leave. For the cat, life was great in the Animal House. She was with her favorite mouse. The boys all needed her. This was all fine and great. But, the cat just missed a challenge. Those always made her grow and be stronger. Things were too relaxed around Animal House. Noiz wished for more excitement to come again. Well, she got her wish in a bad way.

One hot July day, a rich black Porsche pulled up to Animal House. The boys watched on in curiosity. Noiz looked up from the papers she was grading. She too saw the car. The cat sat up for a closer look. "What's going on here?" she thought. The car door opened and out stepped another woman. She looked about forty years old. The woman was dressed in tan-brown dress suit. She was holding a clipboard in her arms. The woman was looking around the place. Noiz watched her closely. This was no ordinary woman. The cat's eyes grew big in surprise. "She's a member from the main school district!" she thought. Right then, she knew that something was up. What was a member from the main school district during here? Artemis must be planning something again. Then, the woman went into the main office. Noiz watched the whole time. She could smell a cruel plot coming on.

Inside, the woman made it to Artemis' office. She knocked on the door.

"Come in!" the pig called from inside. The woman opened the door and stepped inside. Artemis looked up smiling.

"Hello there," he said. "So nice to meet you, Mrs. Lennon!" He bowed to her and she bowed back. Artemis held out his arm.

"Take a seat," the pig said.

"Gladly," Mrs. Lennon said in a German accent. Then, she sat down in front of the desk. He sat down behind it.

"Now," the pig said. "You've come for the care taker position here?"

"That is correct!" Mrs. Lennon replied. "This place is worse shape than I thought."

"Yes, I know!" Artemis agreed. Mrs. Lennon handed him a chart. The house lord looked at it quietly. He looked up at the would-be care taker. The man was puzzled.

"What's all of this?" he asked. The woman kept  her serious face.

"Just a list of improvements!" she replied. Artemis read over them again quietly. He looked up at the would-be care taker worried.

"These can't take place," the pig said at last. Mrs. Lennon raised an eyebrow at him.

"And why not?" she questioned. Artemis swallowed a bit nervously.

"There is a house tenant, Noizchild," he began. The pig broke down and told her all about Noiz, her banishment, and the Hell she had been giving him. Mrs. Lennon listened quietly. She looked unfazed. Artemis went quiet at last.

"So," he said. "What do you want to do?" Mrs. Lennon gave her a little smile.

"I'll take care of Ms. Johnson," she said. Artemis looked up at her confused.

"You'll what?" he asked her. The would-be care taker nodded at her.

"Just leave it to me!" she called. "She'll be gone by tomorrow!" Artemis's eyes lit up in happiness. Right then, he made up his mind.

"Congratulations!" the pig called aloud. "You get the job!" Mrs. Lennon kept her serious face.

"Thank you, sir!" she replied. Then, they bowed on that one. News of the new care taker spread all over like wildfire. Some accepted this without any question. Others, like Noiz, had their suspicions. This only heightened when there was a petition being passed around. This consented of the following: removal of all "troublemakers," stricter curfews, and a worse regime than Artemis. This was looking brightly grim. The care taker would have to go. But how? How? Rob came up with a great plan. Noiz could not find out however, that would ruin everything...

Mrs. Lennon observed Noiz first hand that afternoon. She was walking through the garden when she heard a woman yelling at someone. The care taker looked up and saw the cat hurling abuse at the gardener. Curious, Mrs. Lennon walked closer to listen. Noiz was in an ill mood with the incompetent gardener.

"You idiot!!!" she screamed. "Mario, why do you always cut the roses up too early!!! And don't pull those up! They are the beautiful flowers!!! You're supposed to be pulling weeds, not flowers! You moron!" She pushed against him with her foot. The gardener silently took the abuse a few seconds more. He didn't seem to understand Japanese or English at all. So, Noiz began swearing at him in her best junior high Spanish. That didn't seem to do much either. Noiz kept screaming and kicking at the guy when she felt someone touch her on the shoulder. The cat turned around slowly. Mrs. Lennon was staring at her. The cat stared back at her.

"Yes?" she asked. Mrs. Lennon looked her up and down sharply.

"So you're Noiz!" she called aloud. The cat raised an eyebrow at her.

    "Yes," she said. "Why?"

"What were you yelling at him in Spanish?" Mrs. Lennon asked aloud.

"Because, this guy is an idiot!" the cat reasoned. "He is always tearing up the flowers in the gardens!"

"But he is Italian," the care taker said.

"I know that," Noiz said back.

"Then why do you yell at him in Spanish?" Mrs. Lennon asked.

"Because I don't know any Italian!" the cat argued. Then, she lost the desire to whip the gardener into shape. The cat shoved the care taker off and walked away to find something else to do. The care taker turned back to Mario.

"Continue!" she ordered. "I'll have her gone by tomorrow." Mario went back to work quietly. Mrs. Lennon smiled at her process. She couldn't wait to fix up this place.

That evening, Noiz received the dreadful news. She was in a bad mood for the rest of the day. Rob noticed right off of the bat.

"Momo," he said. "What's wrong?" Noiz glared at him coldly.

"You guys are planning to get rid of me!" she snapped. Rob pretended not to know what she was talking about.

"Huh?" he asked. "What do you mean?" Noiz pulled out a petition and shoved up front in front of him. Rob read over it in silence. Noiz kept her glare on him.

"You're throwing me out of here!" she repeated in anger. "After all that I did for you guys! You just want to chuck me out like a useless broken tool!" Rob smiled at her softly. He gently put his arm around her.

"There, there," the mouse said to her. "It'll be okay. Nothing is official yet. We all have to meet at the council meeting tonight and make a final decision to present by morning." Noiz snorted bitterly.

"I'm not going if it's to get rid of me!" she snapped. Rob just gave her a little shrug.

"Okay then," he said. "Fine with me!" Noiz glared at him and stormed out pissed. Rob watched her with a little a smile. All was going according to plan. It was only a matter of time until the morning. It all depended on the boys' votes. Morning came in a speedy rush. Noiz sat at her table in the cafeteria looking pissed off. She thought that she was getting evicted to Kennel House today. That would mean being in the same house as Tanya Tulloch. The cat still hadn't forgotten what that skank did to her and her man. This was going to call for some ugly payback later. Mrs. Lennon stood over watching the tenants of the house eat their breakfast like a hawk. She could see some of her progress coming to life right away. Animal House would be fixed up right in her eyes in no time. Artemis was watching his flock as well. With Noiz out of the way, he could damn well do as he pleased once again and the money would go back into his pockets again. The results were coming up just about now...

Rob walked into the cafeteria with the voting results in his hands. Everyone looked up at him quickly. Noiz was glaring at him coldly. "Traitors!" she thought in anger. "Traitors, the lot of them!" Mrs. Lennon and Artemis waited for the "good" news. Here it was. Noiz was going to be gone forever now. But then, the mouse opened up the results and began to speak.

"As over July  seventh," Rob spoke up. "The house has all voted unanimously with one abstention." He looked over at his kitty mistress who was still pissed off at him. Rob continued on with a smile on his face. Here came the final results at last.

"We have all decided," the mouse went on. "That we want Mrs. Lennon evicted out of Animal House and we reject her proposal to have things changed around here to her ideas. That is all." Noiz, Mrs. Lennon, and Artemis all looked up in shock. They weren't expecting that one! Mrs. Lennon walked out of the cafeteria in heated rage as Rob smiled at how great the plan went. Artemis sat back in distraught. He was foiled once again! The cat was here to stay again. Noiz was still glaring at her mouse boy-toy.

"I will get you lot for this!" she barked aloud angrily. "Mark my words!!!" The other animals smiled to themselves kindly. They all knew that she was saying thank you to them in reality.
