Garret Huff makes move to Merlin USA after season opener!
The Keystone/Buckeye Rotax Challenge kicked off on April 29th after a long off season; however it wasn't what you would have expected under the Huff tent. Aboard a borrowed four year-old CRG Kali kart from Bergfelt Racing Ent., Huff laid down very respectable times good enough for 3rd in qualifying. In the prefinal, Huff took second after the first turn, but two laps into the race slowed marginally, and was passed, moving him back to 3rd. Huff commented on his progress:

The kart was very well balanced and I was able to go quite quickly from the beginning, despite not driving a kart in six months! We were able to get several testing sessions in yesterday, but were flying blind without any data or times. I thought we had something for Jesse in the prefinal until a terrible vibration developed, originating from the engine.

The terminal problem would have sent Garret packing, but his teammate, Chris Livengood, offered his temporary Biesse Kart for the final. Huff managed to bring the kart home 4th, a solid result for the team prior to their switch to Merlin Karts for the remainder of the year.
