BRIEF HISTORY REVIEW
On the 1st of July of 1937, Julio C. Tello discovers the place guided by Victor Dueñas. The people of the area knew of the place and they called it the HUACA DEL INDIO BRAVO (Ruin of the Brave Indian), because of a human face that was carved in a big rock and it was 3/4 buried on the ground. Tello finds in the north front, east and west sides, 98 carved rocks.
In 1969, after 7 weeks of work of the Archeologists Samaniego and Bueno, with the help of the people of Casma, it was discovered 20 new lithic pieces and since then the site has a guardian.
The earthquake of the 31 of May of 1970, affected badly Sechin. All the work done in 1969 was covered by tons of dirt from the surrounding hills. At the end of 1970, the government financed the archaeological work in Sechin.
