While I was in college, I was given a poster of two Great Pyrenees puppies that I hung in my dorm room. My roommate and I named the pups Molly & Max. I knew I'd have my own Pyrenees someday when I had a yard big enough for them. Two years ago I bought a small horse farm and finally got my Molly.
Having bred Shih Tzus for the past twenty years, I had alot of questions about the Great Pyrenees breed. Tim has been wonderful and patient, answering all of my questions.
I am a 4th grade teacher and children are around the farm constantly. It was especially important to have a dog I could trust with them. I was afraid Molly's size alone would intimidate the kids, but as soon as a child walks up to her, she lies down and rolls over on her back for a tummy rub. She puts up with their petting and playing with a gentleness that is amazing. It's easy to see why they call The Great Pyrenees "The Gentle Giant".
Molly is one year old now and is in training to become a "Therapy Dog". She will visit nursing homes and hospitals, and I know her presence, soothing temperament, and big brown eyes will bring comfort to all she meets.
Tim called me today to let me know "Max" was born yesterday to Angel & Dreamcatcher. In six weeks Molly will have her Max and the family will be complete. My heartfelt thanks go to Tim & Rhonda for all their help with these wonderful dogs. I will be sending Tim new pictures of Max soon to post here.
