My family and I own a Small farm in Galesburg Michigan. We only owned one horse and felt compelled to take in animals that were homeless, abused and or neglected. My two teenagers, husband and I currently own sheep, 3 goats, seven cats and 2 horses.
We started to have difficulty with coyotes. We decided we needed a guard/companion dog to protect and ward off predators. That began our journey to search for the right dog. A farmer friend of ours owned a Great Pyrenees. We didn't even know the breed existed. We fell in love with the size and appearance of the dog. We did some research but reading about the breed didn't quite cut it.
I knew a family member that knew a man (Tim) who bred Pyrenees and I asked for his web site. My family viewed/read all about his dogs and we made a phone call. It would have been great to have called and talked to Tim prior to my own investigation. He answered more facts on the dogs than I had questions, which was great.
My family decided that this breed was for us and arrangements were made to purchase a Pyrenees from Tim. Living in Michigan we were unable to select the puppy in person but Tim sent all sorts of pictures with personality comments for each. We were leery not personally picking the pup but we picked our choice puppy based on Tim's opinion. The transporting of the puppy went great. The kids and us fell in love with the puppy immediately of coarse. We named him Titan. The name seem to fit him to a tee.
Being a new bee we choose to keep him up at the house until he could hold his own with the rest of the animal crew.
Since our pickup Tim has called several times to check in on us and Titan. Very impressive in my book considering I have purchased other dogs from breeders, not to hear back from them after the you pull out of their drive.
Titan is smart, lovable and has been so easy to train. The personality was indeed a perfect match. He might stay up at the house with us but at a young age he fits right in like he understands what his job will be all ready. I have to say even the demeanor of this Pyrenees puppy is amazing me.
I Highly recommend Tim if your seriously looking for a Great Pyrenees. I've never met a breeder who puts so much time, energy and love into his dogs. Thanks Tim, and I will definitely keep you updated how Titan's growth both physical and gardianship progresses with his age.
