HUARI - CHACAS TREK This trek is
an old road of communications, in between the Valleys of Conchucos and
Huaylas in the Department of Ancash-Peru. You will go through several
ecologic levels and the changes of it , makes this route an unforgettable

DAY 01.-There is two starting points, from Lima or Huaraz, which you can take the bus
that goes to Huari via Catac-Chavin, passing by the Querococha lake,
heading up to the tunnel of Kawish (4,500 mts), dropping down to the Conchucos Valley,
going by Tambillo, Machac, Chavin, San Marcos and
arriving to the town of Huari. Over night in a Hotel. 
DAY 02.-Starting early from Huari, the trek to the Purhuay lake;
can take a taxi or you can begin the walk from the main square, which will
take you on a road, that heads to a trout farm, before that there is a
small village were it can be taken a switch on a trail going up to the
lake. Next to it there is good places to camp. Over night Camp.
DAY 03.-Next to the lake starts the trail
which will take you up to the other side of the valley, it zig zags,
through a bushy area coming out to a small plateau were you have a great
view of the lake. Continuing the trail, it heads towards Vaqueria, arriving
to the entry of the valley, before crossing the river. Here you will be at
2 hrs. from the San Bartolome pass. Over night Camp.
DAY 04.-The trail continues crossing the river
heading towards the San Bartolome pass(4,400 mts.), once you start going
down look for the trail since there is places that it disappears, heading
to the Arma river valley. At the end of the forest of Quenuales, there is
campsites. Look for the section close to the river for water. Over night
Camp.
DAY 05.-Start the trek down the valley to
Chacas. On the way, you will find a door, which behind it, is the pass.
Return to Huaraz by the Punta Olimpica Pass, heading down the Ulta Valley,
arriving to Carhuaz. Continuing to Huaraz.
