Chacas Inca Trail Trek

Is an old road of communications, that belongs to the Inca trail system. To travel through you need 5 days and its located in the Department of Ancash, Peru. You will go through several ecologic levels and the changes of it, makes this route an unforgettable trip.

DESCRIPTION OF THE ROUTE

The trip starts from Huaraz, were you head to the Conchucos valley, passing by small towns, having a nice view of the Cordillera Blanca with its snow-capped mountains. On the way you will see, the Querococha lake and pass by Chavin (3,140 mts) were is located the Archaeological site of Chavin de Huantar, considered the "Mother Culture of the Andean Civilization". The road continues to the town of Huari (3,140 mts).

The hike starts early in the morning, heading to the Purhuay lake (3,500 mts), located in between mountains with vegetation. The trail continues up and on the way to the San Bartolome Pass (4,400 mts), you get excellent views of the lake as the ascension is made. At the pass the trail continues and starts going down, were you will go through this long forest of Quenuales , a native tree of the Peruvian Andes. Once you end up the valley you will arrive to the town of Chacas.

The way back to Huaraz is very spectacular because the ascension to the Cordillera Blanca is done from the east side to the Punta Olimpica Pass (4,900 mts), which once you are over the pass there's the Contrahierbas peak at your right and across the valley, the Chopicalqui and Huascaran.

From this point you start descending the Ulta valley, seeing the Ulta's peaks, passing the Huascaran National Park Control and heading to Carhuas (2650 mts), to continue your travel to Huaraz.
