Riding Program

The Flying Colors is a horseback riding instructional program featured at Howie's Rainbow Farm.

The instructional staff is headed by Kim Howie-Garwood. Kim draws on her experience with many disciplines, including English, Western, Dressage and Sport Horses to lead students to their own level of comfort with the horses and their own riding ability, while learning to be safe around the horses. The friendly atmosphere helps even the most timid rider feel at ease nd enjoy the experience.

We teach horsemanship

Horsemanship is mor than just learning to sit on the back of a horse.  Horsemanship is geared to a more thorough understanding of the horse, how he lives, how he thinks and generally being able to care for the whole animal.  Even for the person who never plans to have the total responsibility of caring for their own horse, it is important to know what is involved.  With such knowledge it is easier to decide if you want to own a horse, lease a horse, take lessons, occasionally rent a horse, or, perhaps, not have anything to do with horses at all.

We Teach Balance

The FLYING COLORS riding program endeavors to teach each student to have a secure, independant, balanced seat.  This enables the student to explore many possibilities -- Western, Dressage, trail riding, even speed events -- with confidence.

Age Limit, NAH!

The FLYING COLORS riding program is designed for beginner to intermediate riders.  It is for children and adults.  All areas of horsemanship are explored and questions are encouraged.

Horses bring a natural joy, curiosity, and a sense of freedom. They are a natural relief from stress.
