It is true........the legacy continues. Every year in June, the National Pony Express Association (NPEA), hosts a Pony Express run, where its volunteer members have offered to perform the task of making the original trail run. It is quite an exciting event where members 18 years or older (14 if parental supervision is available) can volunteer to make the run. They must have riding experience and abide by the Pony Express Oath. It has been quite an event for the past few years as the interest in Pony Express' history has arisen [I'm sure some of it due to TYR ;-)]with all ages.
Or, if you don't feel that you want to take on the mission of riding for the Express, you can always just join their organization where lots of cool stuff is available for historical info, and even souveniers! :-) So, it sounds simple enough, why not join?
