Inconspicuous Bey

Mahogany Bay Arabain Stallion
by Neena Bickram 2002
sire: Huckleberry Bey
dam: Spic'n'Span

Subtle, striking, grace.... these are the qualities of the pure-blooded Arabian, the archetypical horse of ledged and dreams. With a spirit that resonates in every hoof beat, in every wind-tossed mane and high-flung tail, it is no wonder that this majestic animal has captured so many imaginations, so many hearts.

Inconspicuous Bey is another chapter in the rich history of the Arabian horse. His father is the celebrated Huckleberry Bey, and though his colour comes from his dam, he sure has his father's spirit. He is a rich mahogany red that only shows its glory, like a real horse, under the warming sun, his ebony mane and tail swept by the wind and streaming like a banner behind him. He is one of the sons of glory, and he knows it, and swelling pride is echoed with each measured step. His eyes speak of warmth and wisdom both, fitting of such a horse who's keen interest is the well-being of all members of his herd - horse and human alike.

Spic Bey was originally a horse so distressed and scuffed I couldn't identify him! His hair was one solid matt of friz. It had to go. I cleaned him as best I could, and cropped the hair. Then I was ready to begin re-sculpting!

I truly enjoy sculpting tails; they are so full of movement and expressive of mood, you have to be careful to get them *just right*. I think I did ;) Though I was never as impressed with his mane as I was with Sienna's. His ears were re-shaped, too.

Spic Bey was painted with high-quality acrylic paint, with many thin, subtle layers to bring out the depth of colours in his rich coat. He is really amazing in person! It took many of tries before I realized I needed sunlight to make his coat glow :) He also has all the right touches – realistic glossy eyes, one striped hoof, and tinted nostrils. *G* This is definitely my favorite custom to date!

As always, I am eager and availble for custom painting & remodling projects. If you are intertered in having a custom peice done, give me a shout!
