This is the first solo release in 3 years from the head man at OPE ENTERTAINMENT. After taking all that time to tighten up his beats and his rhyme skills, GET SHORTY! is a world of difference from his first project THEME MUSIC. OPE has only been heard one time on record since THEME MUSIC. That was on the B-side single LIFESTYLES OF THE POOR WIT' A FORTUNE which also featured BEN HOOKS,PACK FM, and CHRIS DUBBS. That was in May of 98'.

GET SHORTY! is full of witty, bragadocious rhymes, political commentary, rough-edged beats, as well as a line-up of artist OPE has been hittin' off with beats for a few years(such as BEN HOOKS, PACK FM-SEE HIS BANGIN' NEW SITE, and BIG MEN-S). Unlike other producer projects where the producer gets completely outshined or you don't hear them at all, this project never loses sight of whose talent is ultimately showcased here. One song from this project has already gained him even more critical acclaim. The song Ready fo'ya Head! has already been ranked #1 on the East Coast Hip Hop chart at MP3.com. It has already won the first Yo Mp3 Raps Hip Hop quotable competition, and has gained him the Featured ARTIST spot for the East Coast Hip Hop chart. This project also gives props to all those MC's who OPE has provided the backdrop for to date. This project also features new mic wreckas AL NAZON, and VISUAL POETICS of LITTLE EGYPT. GET SHORTY! is well worth the price of admission. This project is well planned and sequenced, unlike other artist projects where it sounds like the songs were just thrown on tape as they went along. This project is so cleverly planned that there are songs in the mix that don't contain profanity(good for you internet radio shows), but, this project flows along so smoothly that it never becomes obvious(check the song listings when you get the project).
