CITY OF TUCSON OFFICE OF THE MAYOR

PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, the Global Peace Walk seeks to unite the world in peace and is comprised of people from many different races and creeds gathering together to spread the message of the importance of global peace; and

WHEREAS, President Clinton has declared that it is time for all people of the earth to work more closely to fully realize the principles of the original United Nations Charter -- reaffirm the ideals, principles, and goals contained in the charter and rededicate ourselves to working for the good of all humnankind; and

WHEREAS, senseless loss of life, liberty, and property can be diminished once we all regain a vision of world peace; and

WHEREAS, on December 15, 1997, supporters of the Global Peace Walk Project will begin their Peace Walk from Fourth Avenue to City Hall,

NOW, THEREFORE, I, George Miller, Mayor of the City of Tucson, Arizona, do hereby proclaim December 15, 1997, to be

GLOBAL PEACE WALK DAY

in this community, and encourage all of our citizens to walk for world peace in our community and the world.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Tucson to be affixed this 15th day of December 1997.
