Dear friend,

Working as an advocate for more than 20 years in Oklahoma and Washington, DC on behalf of children, youth and families, I have acquired insights into the issues that affect America's families daily. I have worked in the field for Youth Services of Oklahoma and in rural and urban emergency shelters for runaway and homeless youth. I had always been a believer in the power of education, but working with these children solidified my commitment to providing every child with an equal chance at life through quality education.

Today I'm co-owner and director of barton.phillips and associates, inc., a consulting company that provides training and technical assistance nationwide to agencies that provide care to children and youth in out-of-home care.

This campaign isn't about me. This campaign isn't about my company. This campaign is about those children that my company works to help. It is a campaign for the mother that is still working for minimum wage. It's about the small farmer that is undercut by large farming companies that receive disproportional federal subsidies. It's about our men and women in Iraq that fight while their family fights to make it at home without them. It's about the veterans whose benefits are under attack in Washington. This campaign is about every person in district three that feels he or she hasn't had a voice in Washington. In this campaign, people are the focus.

Sincerely,
Sue
