Science Olympiad was created in 1983 as a way for students of all ages to compete in various science related events. Over 12,000 schools (K-12) compete with 15 member teams against other schools nationwide. There are four divisions in which the schools compete, A1 for grades 3-6, A2 for grades 3-6, B for grades 6-9, and C for grades 9-12. There are various invitationals that teams may visit to compete, as well as regionals, states, and nationals. In divisions B & C, the competitive atmosphere becomes intense, and really fun for the members of a team. There are 23 events for the B and C divisions, covering many areas of science, including biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, nature, and communication. |
