Trinidad's Fruit and Insect Bird

     This bird is known as the Semp. The male is the brightly coloured yellow breasted and black and the female is olive green and yellow. The juveniles are coloured like the females. This bird can be found in the forest of the deep south and deep north of the island. It mostly nest high in cedar, teak trees and gorge themselves with the seeds of the flowering parasitic varsh-vine (aka vase-vine). Their main food is the fruit of the banana plant. They would occasionally consume insects and seeds.
