Archery News

We have our new schedule for the 2005 year. The upcoming year is looking to be very busy and very productive for our club. You can access our 2005 Archery Schedule by clicking the link at the bottom of this page. As always, we will need help with all shoots in regards to setup, tear down and kitchen help.

This year we are holding our second NYS IBO Championsip 3-D Shoot. Help will be needed by all who can help. Archers and nonarchers welcome to come help. Please circle your calendar with these dates and help our club "shine" to the many out of town people that will be here to compete. The hope is to have 300-400 shooters.

CLEAN-UP
We are going to meet at the club April 13th (Rain Date April 14th) to do yard clean up and some repairs to the bridges for the upcoming shoots in June. Please try to come down and help. We will start around 5:00 p.m. Please bring any rakes and other yard working tools you may have.

HUNTER SAFETY CLASSES 2005

Hunter safety classes are scheduled for April 20th, 21st and 23rd. Weekday times are 6:00 pm til 9:00 pm. Saturday is 9:00 am til finished.

This class will also be availabe in August. The dates are the 17th, 18th and 20th (same times as above).

There is also the Bowhunting safety course that will be held Sunday August 21st. 9:00 a.m till finished. If you are interested in any of these classes, please contact Glenn @ 992-2002.

NEW BUILDING NEWS

The new building is up. There are pictures on Club Pictures page 3.A lot of work is being lined up for the new builing, ( Concret, electrical, heating etc. etc. )Hoping to have our annual Gun Raffle in the new building in October 2005.

We will be putting in a plaque at the time the building is erected, honoring all members of our Great Club who helped make our dream come true. We will honor all members on the plaque as contributors. We are also offering special recognition in the form of donations to the building fund. Levels are as follows: Bronze - up to $25.00; Silver - up to $50.00; Gold - up to $100.00; and Platinum - over $100.00. We have two of these members already, Leo Gassman and Keith Chamberlain (Thank you!!). All donations to the building fund will ONLY be used for the building and to finish repairs to our existing building. You can make checks payable to: Collins Conservation Club - Building Fund.

CASH SPLASH RAFFLE 2005

The club will be holding a unique CASH SPLASH RAFFLE this year. Membership is limited to 300 tickets at $100.00 each. Yes, that is a lot of money, but first place is $10,000 cash. There will also be nine other cash prizes and an early bird drawing April 22nd at 9:30 pm for (one) $1,000 winner. Obviously you must be a salesman to sell these tickets, but they can be split up by many people. For example, 4 @ $25 or 10 @ $10 or any other combination.

The drawing will be held at the club grounds, with a free party, food and drinks for one person per ticket. Additional guests are an extra $20.00 per person, payable in advance. Reserve your tickets now! Call Chris "Hoot" Gerling at 532-2457 to reserve your tickets or for information. The drawing date is June 18th. 5:00 pm - ?

Meetings

All members are invited to attend general membership meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of every month.

Club Member Only Contest

The membership has organized a contest for 2 youngsters to win a NYS Lifetime Sportsman License. The rules and guidelines are as follows. Immediate members children and stepchildren ages newborn thru 11 years of age are eligible to enter the contest. The price for the lifetime license is ages newborn thru 4 years old costing $300.00, and 5 years of age thru 11 years costing $420.00. The winners parents will pay the club 50% and the club will write a check to NYSDEC for the total amount. The winners have 60 days to fulfull their obligation, or then the chance goes to the secondary (alternate) winner and they will have 30 days. All contestants' names will be put in a hat and 2 names will be drawn. The drawing will be announced at a later date. Any members interested in entering their child in the contest, or for more information, please contact Leo Gassman @ 532-0355.

License Winners

Congrats goes out to Ryan Brinkman and Taylor Olson for winning the lifetime license for 2005. Make sure you enter your child for next years chances.

Club Bar

The club bar is open every Friday night. Opening at 8:00 p.m. till ?? This is only contingent on the fact that someone is there to bartend.

Gun Range Rules
If you go to the club to use the gun range, remember: If there are any cars in the parking lot, you MUST find the person(s) and inform them you will be using the range. Look up at the pond, they might be fishing or just hiking. Completely check out the grounds. If you cannot find anyone around, you DO NOT SHOOT your firearms at all UNTIL YOU FIND THEM! Also, please do not shoot the railroad ties, hang up a paper or cardboard target, as not to damage the ties. Please pick up your empty casings and any trash. Thank you.
