Malika Kambe Umfazi was founded June 16th 1995 at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Three women are ultimately responsible for conceptualizing and designing the sorority in existence today. Those women are founders Adele Egwu, Chetachi Egwu and Edna Shaw. The three conceptualizers recruited 9 other women to embark upon the journey to the flame. These women are founders Nsini Udo, Nedra Williams, Tamiko Bell, Jessica Lynch, Wendy Guzman, Yolanda Beaton, Tanya Belgrave, Shirelle Duncan, and Julie Ortiz. Eleven of of these women went on to become the distinguished founders of Malika Kambe Umfazi Sorority Inc. Malika Kambe Umfazi was incorporated November 18th, 1995 by the State of New York and since then has enjoyed an exciting, promising, and inspiring introduction into the fraternal and sororal world. Although Malika is relatively new, we are striving to become a driving force on campuses across the nation and in the community.
