ANIMALS

SHORT BIOGRAPHY:

The Animals was formed in Newcastle, UK, in 1960, originally called "Alan Price Rhythm´n Blues Combo". Changed name to The Animals in 1963, and got a contract with Columbia records. Their big break-through came in 1964 with the single "House of the Rising Sun". They released two album on Columbia but changed to Decca in 1965 where they recorded a couple of albums.
In 1966/67 lead-singer Eric Burdon reformed the band, calling them Eric Burdon and the Animals, who recorded a handful of Westcoast styled albums on MGM.
The original Animals reformed in late 1970´s to record a couple new albums


Key Band Members:

Eric Burdon: Born 1941, vocals and harmonica. Burdon is beyond question the key member of the Animals, and he sings on all important Animals releases.

Alan Price: Born 1941, organ and piano. Price was one of the original members, but left the band in 1965, but rejoined the band for the reunion albums "Before We Were so Rudely Interrupted" and "Ark".

Hilton Valentine: Born 1943, lead guitar . Original member, but left the band in 1966, but rejoined the band for the reunion albums "Before We Were so Rudely Interrupted" and "Ark".

Chas Chandler: Born 1938, bass. Original member, but left the band in 1966, but rejoined the band for the reunion albums "Before We Were so Rudely Interrupted" and "Ark".

John Steel: Born 1941, drums. Original member, but left the band in 1965, but rejoined the band for the reunion albums "Before We Were so Rudely Interrupted" and "Ark".

Dave Rowberry: Born 1940, keyboard. Replaced Price in 1965. Left when Burdon formed E.B. & the Animals in 1967

Barry Jenkins: Born 1944, drums. Replaced Steel in 1965 and continued with E.B. & the Animals in 1967-1969

Vic Briggs: Born 1945, guitar. Joined E.B. & the Animals in 1967-1968

Danny McCullough: Born 194-, bass. Joined E.B. & the Animals in 1967-1968

John Weider: Born 1947, guitar. Joined E.B. & the Animals in 1967-1969

Zoot Money: Born 1942, keyboards. Joined E.B. & the Animals in 1968-1969

Tom Parker: Born 194-, keyboards. Joined the Animals in 1966-67

Andy Somers: Born 1942, guitar. Joined E.B. & the Animals in 1968-1969
