--------------------THE HISTORY OF-------------------- THE CANADIAN LEBANON SOCIETY OF HALIFAX

******SITE UNDER CONSTRUCTION - MORE INFO TO COME******

Through its over sixty years of history, the Canadian Lebanon Society of Halifax has been the voice and instrument of the Lebanese community in Nova Scotia. The Society has promoted the culture and heritage of the Lebanese people to the community at large with many radio programs, an Arabic – English magazine, and an annual three day festival encompassing the panorama of folkloric, educational and cultural events. The Lebanese Language School was opened in 1979 to teach the Arabic language and Lebanese culture to its youth. The Society has been an ongoing supporter and full participant in the Multicultural Festival held in June every year. Every year, Emigrants Day will be celebrated in March. The government of Lebanon will acknowledge and celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of the Lebanese living abroad in Nova Scotia. Lebanese Independence Day, November 22, is celebrated on the weekend closest to this date. A cocktail reception is held by the Consulate General of Lebanon in Halifax, and the Society is a supporter of this event. The Canadian Lebanese Society is proud to continue to serve the Lebanese people of Nova Scotia and welcomes new members at any time.
