===== My Fishing Page =====
This is my webpage dedicated to freshwater fishing, I've been
fishing
since I can remember and enjoy fishing for anything that swims and
bites my hook, so that being said these are some of the fish I've
fished for: Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Rock Bass, Alligator Gar,
Channel Cats, Mud Cats,
Common Carp, Grass Carp, White Crappie, Bluegill, Bowfin, Rainbow
Trout, Grass Pike, Green Perch, and pretty much
anything else in normal southern lakes oh and almost forgot a couple
baby Striper in my cast net at Texoma. My personal records are 7lb for
Largemouth Bass, multiple 2lbers for Crappie, 50-60lb est. Grass Carp
out of a catfish paylake on accident, 12lb Common Carp, a 10lb Channel
Catfish and a couple small gar in my cast net. I fish Lake Fork in
Emory, TX as my primary bass lake and Lake Texoma as my main Catfish
and Carp lake however after moving to Lubbock for school I now fish
Buffalo Springs Lake for Carp where I found there to be a ton of big
10+Lb Carp and have recently begun fishing Lake Alan Henry which has
proved extremely productive for Largemouth Bass and Crappie. As far as
bait suggestions, I would swear by my 5F
Bomber Chartreuse Crank Bait I have caught different species on this
lure alone. Hope you enjoy my fishing page I will try to post
more information about previous trips and more pics of fish I've caught
in the near future as well as a weekly log of fishing trips and their
success. If you are interested in freshwater fishing and or freshwater
native fish in the aquarium scene feel free to check out my native fish
section under freshwater aquariums!
Week of 07/11/04 = went to Cudjoe Key, Florida Keys and went trolling
and bottom fishing on two seperate 8hr trips! The bottom fishing turned
up a #350 and a #450 Goliath Grouper and some American Sharpnose
sharks, lots of barracudas, and a couple sting rays...the offshore
trolling trip landed my dad and I each a monster sailfish, mine was
7'7" and around #80 it was a blast!

The ultimate quest...Two 4ft
long 80lb Grass Carps that taunt us on a regular basis,
after alot of careful planning and a futal attempt to seize one of the
fish my friend spotted one near the shore in the summer time and lept
on top of it however the fish, far to witty for us slapped him with its
tail and escaped leaving Vijay soaked and with nothing to show... but
he will be ours... oh yes...someday.
Two of the three 5Lb Largemouhts caught tightlining under the
bridge at Lake
Fork while fishing for Crappie
Update: Went fishing on 03/27/04 and caught two nice sized
Common Carp
at Buffalo Springs Lake; looks like the time for carp is now because
over the past few weeks we have had zero luck up there but the warm
weather has certainly produced, one was 22" and the other was 24" both
around 7lbs
Update: Some more Carp pics, Vijay's 7-8lb Common Carp
from Possum Kingdom 2004 Summer, and a 6Lb I caught a while back at
Lake Texoma in 2001
Update: Here are some pics from the end of spring break
my mom
and I went to the Wildlife Fisheries Center and Hatchery in Athens,
Texas. They place was awesome and they had the world record 121.5Lb
blue cat on display named Splash. The Center also had a private fishing
lake stocked with rainbow trout and channel cats and a few big bass one
of which chased my lure almost to the bank then turned around but it
was about 22" est and a good size fish to bad I didn't catch him...
Update: Went fishing on 04/01/04 and caught about a 7lb
Largemouth at Lake Fork last
weekend with ol Charles Arnold, the biggest bass I've caught down there
and it was on a Castaic small sunfish swim bait in about 3ft of water,
good times! Also caught a giant bowfin but unfortunately we didn't have
the landing net and it tore my poor lure to shreds it was est around
10-15lbs, the teeth on this beast broke the trebel hook in the front
and straightened out 2 of the barbs and snapped the o ring on the rear
trebel hook of the lure as well! The
bass weren't quite up in spawning grounds yet but we found alot of gar
in the shallows
Update: Went fishing 04/28/04 with my friend Bird Dogg and
Justin at a
little local lake on 91st and Slide and caught about a dozen carp and a
few channel cats
made for a pretty good day on a windy afternoon...if only we had some
bigger line we would have landed around a 7Lb carp but he broke the
line at
the last minute when we tried to get him out of the water because we
forgot the landing net...again.... Bird caught
a koi carp it was pretty cool and alot of the other carp we caught were
hybrids between common's and koi.
Update: Went fishing 06/13/04 the fishing trip went pretty good however
the
catfish location was flooded because of massive rains from a few
weeks before but we ended up catching alot of Rock Bass, Smallmouth
Bass, a couple Grass
Pickerel, a couple Rainbow Trout, and saw tons of watermockasins.
Arnold and I took a few day fishing trip up to the Ozarks in
northern Arkansas. The
scenery was great though and I had an amazing time floating these
rivers! Most of our better fishing was done on the Buffalo River, with
a day trip on Spring Creek. I plan on going back over spring break to
do
some fishing up there with my friend Bird Dog and this time I will take
the camera down the float trip since I know the conditions of the river.
Update: Went fishing 02/04/05 and 02/09/05 at Lake Alan Henry with my
buddies Craig, Mike, Robert, and Mark at the Crappie House and we OWNED
the fish out there. These lunkers were chasing up our Crappie and
destroying them before we could even get them out of the water it was
AMAZING! The Largemouth were 4,5,6 lbs the first night then 6.5lb the
second night, but I think my ghetto scale was a little off because the
6.5Lb fish looked closer to 7.5-8lbs to me but whatever. I'll post the
rest of the pics a little later when I get some more web space!
Update: Went fishing 03/17/05 in Tempe, AZ over spring break with my
girlfriend and we annihilated the Carp along with a nice Channel Cat, a
few Largemouth Bass, and a monster Koi that she caught probably around
20lbs!
Update: Mike went fishing today and I was supposed to go but some other
stuff came up and low and behold I picked the WORST possible day to
miss out on some quality Lake Alan Henry fishing. Here she is folks a
13.82lb Largemouth Bass, the 6th Sharelunker of the season from Lake
Alan Henry that my buddy Mike caught...at the crappie house no
less...SWEET!
