Last year I took early retirement from Dade County's Miami Art Museum where I was Public Information Officer for 15 years. I was thrilled that my son and his wife Lara chose to name the baby Madeline as I have such fond memories of my first best friend Madeline Ginsberg .... (if you read this, please reply!)
In my spare time I enjoy creative writing, cooking, painting, walking, swimming, yoga, and spending time with my soulmate, Aaron. My brother Arthur Germain lives in Coral Springs, FL and is an orthopedic surgeon. He graduated FLHS about 1968. My older brother Eddie, Edward Germain, lived in Wayne NJ and passed away six years ago. He was a wonderful person and we all miss him. He has two terrific sons, Brian and Andrew who live on the west coast.
I'd love to hear from Fair Lawnites! I am thankful that I grew up in such a lovely community with friendly neighbors and merchants who knew my name. I walked to school every day and knew most of the people who lived in the homes that I passed by. I never feared walking alone at night from Fair Lawn Jewish Center back to my home. I pray that the new century will return us to family values and am thankful for my childhood in Fair Lawn and the wonderful memories of Roosevelt School, TJ Jr. High, and FLHS. Happy 2000 to all.

Our son Scott is 32 and married with 2 boys of his own. Scott is an attorney down here. Our daughter, Shari is 24 and living down here also. She is having a grand time," finding herself". During the last year, I have opened up an online bookshop. The shop is specializing in Modern Hebrew Literature in Translation. The most interesting thing happened to me a few months ago. I met a woman here whom I hope to marry, if all goes well. I met her through mutual friends. As she is an American and lives in New York City, it looks like I am going to be close to Fair Lawn again. As my store is in cyberspace, I can easily relocate.

It has been two years since I wrote my bio, but alas things change and I am now a grandfather. Harrison Becket Lazar, born May 2002. I am still having a blast doing only criminal and traffic defense. Real court is better than TV court. Retire, how can I when I am having this much fun doing what I do and get paid for it. A little tennis now and then; long weekend vacations and a wife who has the most beautiful garden in the neighborhood. This May, I celebrate my @#% birthday and I still feel like a kid. Both of my sons still reside within 40 minutes from me, although my oldest has threatened to take my grandson to the next county.

The first reunion I attended (or heard about) was our 35th. Now our 40th is just a month away! It was fun to renew long-lost ties. I live in Chapel Hill, NC and work for a contract research organization training clinical monitors of clinical trials of investigational drugs. I love my job but wish I didn't have to travel quite so much. I hear from several classmates at least on an occasional basis----Ilona Madis, Paula Ferris, Jeannine Tonetti. Also hear about other alums via former neighbors and friends in Radburn. I was married for 25+ years and have two terrific kids: Scott, 32, a trial attorney in a very atypical. small, laid-back firm in Charlotte, married to Jacqueline (child psychologist) and expecting my first grandchild in December; & Beth, 30, an elementary teacher in Orlando, FL, & married to Rob Dickinson, a stockbroker. It's very satisfying to know your kids are happy, well-adjusted, & self-sufficient (as much inspite of as because of my parenting, I'd guess!). Would love to hear from anyone who remembers me!

Although I never thought I liked school, I went on to earn a BS in Bus. Mgt from Fairleigh Dickinson, an MA in Personnel Mgt from Montclair State, and an Ed.D. in Adult Education from Florida International University. I took an early retirement after 27 years as a college administrator, becoming Vice President of Student Affairs at Broward Community College and President of the Florida Assn. of Student Financial Aid Administrators. I was a frequent speaker and writer on educational issues and time management. I heard that it was best to have grandchildren first so I bypassed having children and am the proud and doting grandmother of Roney and Roy. My husband, Steven Z. Levinson, and I now own and manage the historic Edison and Royal Hotels (www.edison-hotel.com) in the Art Deco District of South Beach, commercial buildings and several rental communities. In addition to many articles, I have published three books including “The Life & Times of a Deco Dowager: The Edison Hotel” available on Amazon.com. I serve on the city’s Historic Preservation Board, and in my “spare time” I coordinate an annual reunion for the WWII vets who were stationed in Miami Beach and present lectures and slide shows on Miami Beach during 1942-1945. I offer discounts on rooms at my hotels for educators, Fair Lawnites and FLHS alums!
Great to find this site! Also good to see so many fellow grads living such full lives. Short history: BA, Bethany College (WV), MFA, Ohio Univ. Taught H.S. in Ohio & West Virginia, moved to Jersey Shore 1978 and worked for JCP&L in alternate energy programs, retiring from FirstEnergy Corp. in 2002 as Reg. Director. My wife, Bunny, and I have four boys, all grown and living in California, Kentucky, Massachusetts and New Jersey. Just one grandson, so we spoil him rotten. Right now we're living here in coastal Maine fixing up our retirement home, enjoying this creative community, and figuring out what to do next.

It has been a truly emotional experience thinking about high school. In that I am now a grandmother of three, a mother of five, and still having to work as hard as ever - sometimes feeling short of breath in this rush called life - or is that CHF; I look back, and in comparison we really lived in a somewhat innocent and simpler time. I wonder about a lot of you and hope and pray everything in your lives has gone well. I think, retrospectively, what if...as I'm sure a lot of you also do. I would love to hear from anyone out there who remembers me. My husband and I spend a lot of time in my log cabin in North Georgia, hence the levycabin address above. Lets talk!

I left New Jersey in 1966, after college at Rutgers, to do graduate work at the University of Chicago. Then, after a few years working at the University of Maryland and at a scientific institute near Philadelphia, I moved with my family to Tucson in 1975, where I spent 25 years at the University of Arizona. At Arizona, I was a Professor of Planetary Science and a Professor of Physics. I was also Head of the Planetary Sciences Department and Director of the University's Lunar & Planetary Laboratory for more than a decade, and Dean of the College of Science for nearly seven years following that. My work over the years has encompassed research in theoretical astrophysics and planetary geophysics and teaching, as well as various advisory and consulting activities (principally with the Federal Government). I have three sons from my former marriage; all are in school as I write this (graduate school, law school, and college), and spread around the country (Palo Alto, New York, and Houston). In 2000, I moved from Tucson to Houston--along with my companion, Erzsébet Merényi--to become Provost and Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Rice University. Erzsébet is a scientist working with computational artificial intelligence. She too used to work at the University of Arizona -- where her son is finishing school -- but now is also on the faculty at Rice. I get to the northeast from time to time, on business and to visit my family, none of whom are still in Fair Lawn, but all of whom live in or around New Jersey. I have been back through Fair Lawn only a couple of times since the class reunion in 1987 (which I enjoyed, has there been one since?), while wandering around with Erzsébet and/or kids.

We have seven grandchildren ages 10years to 4 months. I moved to California in 1979 for a business opportunity and never looked back. I've been living in Denville, N.J. for the past 20 years. There are four children ranging from 27 to 7 years old (only one wife). I'm an orthopedic surgeon (I also find it hard to believe at times ) and I've been working in Denville for the past twenty years since I finished my residency in N.Y. Just finding this web site has brought back many fond memories. It would be great if others found out and signed on. Does anyone have a class list? I have a birthday this week and it's getting harder to realize how old we are !!!! I never thought about it before but this is getting to be too much. I have a '67 vette and ride around on "cruise nights" with the other old men in the area, pretending we are still kids ! Does anyone go to Lead East over the memorial day weekend? It's a huge old car show with all kinds of great things to do and see. If so let me know, I'm usually there. Keep in touch ....I'll get back to you....................

Classmates! Left NJ in Fall '63 to college in northern Michigan, graduated from college in '67 and moved with my bride to Tucson, Arizona where we lived for 13 years (4 children). Worked as an exploration geologist for a mining company; we were relocated to Sonora (NOT Sonoma), California in 1980 for a gold mining project. The company left the mining business in '83 and I've been a consultant ever since. We moved to Pensacola in '88 where my bride grew up and have been enjoying the beach ever since (where we go, if we see anybody it's crowded that day). Our four range from 21 - 31 in age and we have 3 granddaughters. I run a branch office for a Birmingham, Alabama-based consulting firm doing environmental consulting for municipal governments and industry. I am very lucky in that my bride works in my office as "lady indispensable" (even if that phrase is politically incorrect!). I'd love to hear from other FLHS grads, especially those who live/have lived in Florida or Tucson.

I'm about three weeks from doing our class newsletter. I know many of you wondered what happened. All of that and more will appear. Please no new submissions, but $ are very much appreciated. Please make checks out to “FLHS '65” OR to me, “Liz Power.” In 1999, our last newsletter, printing, postage mailing a second copy to a grad's new address, ran close to $1,000. I also will get back to planning our 40th (oysh) for 2005, no more reunion planners. I've been in touch with our choir director, Miss Lopes to whom I would like to honor at this reunion. So gather up any new addresses for classmates, and send them to me.
Remember members from other classes are always welcome to be on our mailing list and to submit articles.

My wife and I became nomadic in 1980: moving from NJ to Tucson, San Francisco, LA, a brief stint in Coral Springs, and finally Irvine. For the past 5 yrs I have chosen to work out of the house which has afforded me the luxury of watching my 2 daughters grow up (1st yr college, 2nd yr HS). I missed the reunion July 1997 and would like to talk with some of the class. I already picked up T. Pabon on the web. Anyone else out there? Does anyone know how to contact an old friend, Bruce Benjamin ('65)? I live and work in Flagstaff, AZ. Work for the school district. 2 kids aged 28 and 27. My daughter is going to Poland in June for the Peace Corps. I work with elementary athletics and also teach high school. Still working on my darn PhD. Yell and I'll yell back.
Hey, what ever happened to?? Always interested in hearing about classmates beyond the I have kids and grandkids.

So happy to see so much pride in our past. Our high school times were the best. Sometimes we learn this too late. Anyway, I am still looking for people on our deadend list, too long to put names on here but if you want a copy of the list, please E-mail me. I think this Web site is the best and I enjoy being a part of the wonderful memories that are on this page. Looking forward to hearing from everyone and anyone from Fair Lawn, either just to say hello or looking for someone.

Hi everyone. I've been in my house in Fair Lawn since 1978, divorced since 1994, and teach in Milnes School since 1989. I have two great grown kids, Stacy, 31, and Marc, 28. Life is good. In fact I went to the reunion in June for '66,'67,'68 classes and the attendance was sad. We, that were there, had a wonderful time but we got to thinking. Some of us were talking about having our 45th reunion in June of 2011 (Jay G., Tim C., Roz, Sue K., Joel,Jack, etc.)...but just us 1966 grads. What do you think? While many of us had a great time at the threesome reunion, it would be so much better if it was just us! I'm getting a reunion committee together again. Remember the reunion in '86? I just re-watched that reunion on a DVD (thank you Roz) and it was wonderful. If you think you're interested in attending this 45th reunion in 6/2011 let me know. Spread the word, get contact info, pass it to me, and I hope to hear from you soon.

I have just finished my second year of teaching mathematics and literature at an alternative high school near Detroit. My five-year-old son, Zane, and I share an apartment in Ypsilanti where he teaches me the intricate nature of PlayStation games and I teach him the true value of keeping one's sense of humor. We plan to relocate to Ann Arbor for residence, school and work by fall. Since my family still primarily resides in Fair lawn and Hackensack, we make periodic pilgrimages to the ould sod (we'll be there from 7/7/00 to 7/24/00). I'm still fighting a national war regarding mathematics education, trying to convince the dinosaurs and old guard that what worked for about 1% of the population for the past century isn't what we need for 99% of the people for the next one. After high school, I attended Ohio University and majored in architecture, and have been practicing that craft in Columbus since 1972, save for one year spent in Philadelphia. As an architect, I have worked on projects that have varied dramatically in scope, from large urban renewal projects to a humble wishing well. My primary responsibility has been as a designer, but I have also managed most of the projects in which I have been involved. The result is that I have met and awful lot of interesting people and done some things most people don't get to do . . . like climb an airport control tower or pet a rhinoceros. My last year at college, fate introduced me to a lovely, intelligent and talented young lady who, it turns out, was destined to become my wife, Elizabeth Eugenia James. We have now been married 36+ years and have three children: Simon (35), an artist and jack-of-all-trades; Isaac (34), a brick/stone mason; and Rachel (28), who is currently completing her degree in anthropology at Towson University. We also have four wonderful grandchildren ranging in age from 3 to 10. (I think that grandchildren are the reward for having children!) As I wasn't the most gregarious person in high school, I'm sure that most would not recall who I am; for those who may and decide to write I promise to respond in kind.

Hello to all who have surfed on in to this site. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of my H.S. Sweetheart, Rick Newman, contact me. Would even be glad to hear from Rick himself ! Could write a novel about my life since H.S. days but so could all of us. My love for horses and owning one keeps me busy. Working for an Oral Surgeon for over 27 years keeps me employed. Life is good.
I currently live in Manlius, NY (for the past three years), which is a suburb of Syracuse. Before that I was in Manalapan, NJ which to me seemed like the current version of Fair Lawn as we knew it. Started school at Rutgers in Newark but after two years transferred to Ohio State University and graduated from there. Later picked up an MS in Microbiology at NYC (worked part time at the Midas on Rt. 17). Working for the same drug company for 20+ years in QC (they decided I'd really love the Syracuse area; from what I remembered in school everyone wanted to go to SU for an educations (my sister Sue, '70 did) but only I came up here for a living; actually it's really quite nice!) Married to the same wonderful woman for almost 25 years; two sons, one at the U of Buffalo (part of SUNY) the other a Jr. in the local high school. Love to hear from anyone and reminisce... also is there anyone in the Syracuse area?

I hope this new century finds everyone happy and healthy. I'm happily married almost 20 years with two wonderful boys ages 12 and 6 who fill my life with tremendous joy. Even though I'm 50, I'm still very immature and fun to be with, and quite humble. After 20 long years in the music business, I gave it all up in '84 to become a Taoist monk in Tibet, but didn't. But I am studying Tai Chi Chi Kung and can almost levitate myself! I've recently gotten back to playing solo guitar and I hope to have my music website up by the fall of 2001 at www.softguitar.com.
