BASS

My FIRST AX!
TEISCO!!

One of Dad's occupational tools, 1973
(I was probably born inside this box!)

This was Bob's solid body electric upright Ampeg bass.

This is my Kent.
Deceased, dusty, dislocated neck, all frets removed (!)
Donated by Roger Ferguson,
shipped up from Nashville
(wrapped in newspapers)
to me in NJ
Spring 1978.
Heard on dozens of RSM recordings
from that era.
R.I.P.

Here's my sanded-to-natural-wood Fender Precision Bass
at a country demo session
at
Fred Carter Jr.'s
NUGGET STUDIO
in
Goodlettsville TN
1974.

This great bass is heard on
ALL the great early '70s RSM waxings!
Wish I knew what happened to it!

And this baby's the
RSM SPECIAL!
A no-name homemade piece o' tree
donated to me by
Szzn. Griffin, mid '80s
used on practically all R. Stevie home recordings since!
Neck outweighs the body.
Hard for everyone else to play,
but perfect for the big-handed son of Bob.
Superb action and deeeeep sound!!

Billy Anderson's Hofner, 1974

CAN
YOU
CUT

BASIC
