Kwan began skating at the age of 5 after watching her older brother play hockey...an excellent student, Kwan completed the 11th grade with a 3.8/4.0 grade point average and is currently a senior and plans to graduate in the spring... aspires to attend Harvard and become a lawyer...enjoys swimming, bowling, riding her four-wheeler, biking and hanging out with her friends at Lake Arrowhead...she always wears a Chinese good luck charm around her neck that was given to her by her grandmother...Kwan serves as a national spokesperson for the Children's Miracle Network and long with Bo Jackson co-chairs CMN's ProKids program...is a two-time recipient of Skating magazine's Readers Choice Award for figure skater of the year.
