Hi Norma,
I'm Margie Burns Summerlin, and I saw your info on the Burns' website and I'm sure you get emails to see if you know any thing about this BURNS / Burnes. Well I have been looking for the father or parents of my Great-Great-Grandfather and have come to a big brick wall. I am looking for John Burnes (the e has been dropped) he was born in 1822 Greenville District. South Carolina and died 1864 in Marietta, Cobb Co., Georgia. Married to Mary "Pollie" Bull born 16 Jan 1824 South Carolina died in Attala Co., Mississippi. There are many on Ancestry.com that have him linked to Laird Burns' line and some to Samuel Burns out of Charles Burns' line, and I also thought he came from Charles' line but I can' find any proof to that. All of those listed on Ancestry.com are NO proof that it is the father of John Burns.
John and Mary did make their way into the Ethel, Attala Co., Mississippi area and there was also a William Burns born 1825 SC and was in Attala Co., MS at the same time John was there and don't know who his father was either. If you can share any info on this I would appreciate it
