The next afternoon, Leslie and Nick went shopping. They were excited about the engagement but hadn’t told anyone yet. They decided to have all the guys, the band, and a few of the dancers to dinner at Nick’s house that night. Nick had already called everyone and they were at the grocery store picking up a few things. As they went through the isles, Leslie watched Nick. Just looking at him made her smile. He turned around and caught her once, “Hey, what are you grinning at?” he said as he put his hand around her waste.
Leslie looked into his eyes , “ I love you.” Nick kissed her as they continued their shopping as they approached the last isle…the baby isle. Nick walked through and grinned to hisself, unaware that Leslie was watching him. She knew that he was going to be a great daddy. She had watched him play with Aaron and Angel at times. He was so sweet, still a kid at heart. They bought their things and went to get the house and food ready. Nick got the grill ready while Leslie set up the tables and lights outside.
The first people to arrive that night were Brian and Howie. Brian had someone with him, “ Hey man this is Amy, the girl I told you about.” Nick introduced himself to Amy and pointed the three to the backyard.
As they walked through the sliding glass door, Leslie looked up, “ Amy? Oh my God!!! Amy!!!!!!!!” They ran and hugged each other. “Oh my God! I haven’t seen you since graduation!! What are you doing in Florida?”
Amy explained that she had went to school at FSU and had taken a teaching job in Orlando when she graduated. She had met Brian, and recognized him because her niece was a big fan. They somehow had started talking about teaching and Amy found out that Brian would have been a teacher had he not become a singer. The two sat down and started talking, catching up on what had happened in each others lives. Brian told Nick as he pointed to them, “ Well, looks like we don’t have girlfriends tonight…I have a feeling they are going to be talking for a while.” Nick laughed and went to answer the door again. The whole band was there, soon followed by the dancers. Kevin showed up a few minutes later, and AJ after him. As soon as everyone was there and in the back, Nick had them all get their food and sit at the tables. He stood up and cleared his throat.
“May I have everyone’s attention? Leslie and I have something to tell you all,”he pulled Leslie up and she stood beside him. “Yesterday…we ummm…well”
Leslie spoke up, “ We’re engaged!” She showed everyone the ring as Nick hugged her. All the guys got up and patted Nick on the back….all but one that is...
