Leslie drove home that night crying. She kept picturing Nick standing in that airport crying, a shocked look on his face. But she told herself that she didn't care. He had broken her heart, so he deserved this. She got to her house and walked to the answering machine. There were two messages. The first was from her mother. The second was from Nick,"Leslie, baby please forgive me, I am so sorry. Just please let me talk to you. Call me." Leslie could tell by his voice that he was still upset. She told herself again that she didn't care and that she didn't want to talk to him. But...as Leslie glanced at the phone, she realized that she was only fooling herself. She knew she loved him still. She still however wasn't too eager to talk to him. She called someone else instead.
In about an hour or so, AJ showed up at Leslie's door. They had dated for about a month a couple years ago, and they were still best friends. AJ always understood how she was feeling, and he could always give her a guy’s point of view on things. Leslie let AJ in and they went and sat on her couch. "Hey babe, what's wrong?" Leslie told AJ everything. She explained about the ring, the last night her and Nick were together, and then last...about how she thought she might be pregnant. AJ just sat there for second,"Woah." That was all he said. AJ took Leslie’s hand and told her,"Leslie, I don't know exactly what to tell you, and I'm not going to pretend I do. But I do know one thing. Nick loves you. And also...you can't tell him I told you this...but I overheard him talking to Bri once about the other woman. He told Bri that he couldn't concentrate on her because he was too busy thinking about you. Then when Bri asked him why he was even going out with this girl if he had you back at home, Nick said that he was almost in a way pretending she was you. Now I know that sounds lame, but you and I both know how that boy's mind works." Leslie looked at AJ and started crying. He slid over and hugged her. Leslie knew that she had to call Nick. But as AJ pulled away...Leslie's door swung open. Leslie and AJ both looked at each other....."Oh no,"Leslie thought. AJ let go of her and ran to the door,"Yo man this ain't what it looks like...." Leslie watched in tears as Nick got back in his car and sped down the road....
