Stuff about Me

I have to start with some block quote examples, right? :-)

Among those whom I like or admire, I can find no common denominator, but among those whom I love, I can: all of them make me laugh.
W.H. Auden
Remember to never split an infinitive. The passive voice should never be used. Do not put statements in the negative form. Verbs have to agree with their subjects. Proofread carefully to see if you words out. If you reread your work, you can find on rereading a great deal of repetition can be avoided by rereading and editing. A writer must not shift your point of view. And don't start a sentence with a conjunction. (Remember, too, a preposition is a terrible word to end a sentence with.) Don't overuse exclamation marks!! Place pronouns as close as possible, especially in long sentences, as of 10 or more words, to their antecedents. Writing carefully, dangling participles must be avoided. If any word is improper at the end of a sentence, a linking verb is. Take the bull by the hand and avoid mixing metaphors. Avoid trendy locutions that sound flaky. Everyone should be careful to use a singular pronoun with singular nouns in their writing. Always pick on the correct idiom. The adverb always follows the verb. Last but not least, avoid clichés like the plague; seek viable alternatives.
William Safire (Rules for Writers)
Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today—but the core of science fiction, its essence... has become crucial to our salvation if we are to be saved at all.
Isaac Asimov

My name is Boni. I am an instructor for Fayetteville Technical Community College. My courses currently include Microsoft Windows Vista, from Microsoft Office 2007: Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook; and Microsoft Expression Web.

But lest you think computers are my whole life, let me mention that I am a single mother, with a wonderful daughter, and I also spend a little time on that. In addition, I am an avid reader, with science, fiction or fact, heading the list, tho even cereal boxes will do in a pinch. I almost always have a camera close by and fancy myself a photographer (someday, I will add a page) much to the annoyance of friends and family. I have even been known to watch an hour or so of television (whenever StarGate is on). And then, there is always the PlayStation or the Wii and yes.... I even occasionally give the ol' Dreamcast a workout! I am also now officially an Art Nerd (thanx, Brenda!):

To receive a standard level certificate, you must pass with a score of 2.75 or above on a scale of 1.0 - 5.0, where 5.0 is the highest. The master level requires that you pass with a score of at least 4.0. Approximately 40% of those who complete a certification test become certified. About 12% of those who pass are certified at the master level.
(Not bragging... really!... Students should know their instructors are qualified!)
