This is the review of So Quintessentially British in the current issue of Kerrang:

KKK
Cheap and cheerful collection of British punk

Shifting for just a fiver, this impressive collection is a 21-band salute to the British punk and ska underground. As is always the case with these label samplers you find some great stuff (Sunfactor, Annalise and Steel Rules Die), but you also get some utter dross (the sloppy garage-punk of Phinius Gage and the awful horn-heavy ska of Battleska Galactica.) The good stuff out-weighs the bad, though; cheap compilations like this are an ideal and cost-effective way of discovering new bands and you'll unearth some real treasures here. If punk, ska or derivations thereof are what floats your boat, this will keep you happy for weeks.

For Fans Of: Capdown, Rancid

Pretty good all in all once again, I'm pretty chuffed.

Ok, I didn't know about this at all until my bro told me but Big Cheese had a review of So Quintessentially British in their January 2005 issue, the one with The Used on cover. Anyway it's included below:

Another comp of homegrown punk rock
xxx (3 stars)

There's an awful lot of these comps about at the moment, which isn't a bad thing as it does go to show that the UK scene currently has a lot to offer. 'SQB' provides 20-odd tracks of bands across the spectrum that embraces the term punk rock in the UK. As in most of these comps there are bigger names slotted alongside smaller ones. No Comply, My Awesome Compilation and Steel Rules Die all do their thang as well as ever. Newer names like Echofreddy and Driveway Speeding show much promise but as always there's a couple that leave a slightly more bitter taste, this time in the form of Chief Libido and Schoolboy Error. All in all it's a good starting point to check out some bands you've never heard before and it's all done in the best DIY way possible.

Pretty good all in all, though such cruelness to Chief Libido and Schoolboy Error! Anyhow Kerrang will also feature a review in next Wednesday's issue.

So good God yes! After months and months of waiting around and constant fuck-ups by people I paid expecting to be professionals the CDs have finally been pressed and So Quintessentially British is finally ready to order from here. Yay. It'll be available not only here but in a load of record stores and online stores as well as several bands selling it themselves. So this CD is simply fucking awesome, you should get it, especially if you're woefully unaware of the majority of the bands featured. Plus I want to give a giant thankyou to my brother Simon who's been handling a lot/all of the distro stuff for the past 3 weeks while I've been in Vancouver, he's a star and an awesome brother. So cheers Si, and please check out the CD.

So yeah, as the website was looking a bit wank before I知 now in the process of updating the website. I am also now free of financial constraints that were pushing back the release of So Quintessentially British will be pressed in the next few days and then finally you lucky people can start putting in your orders and such. It痴 such a lovely compilation and you can find out more about is under Releases which I know you want to of course. So after So Quintessentially British I知 most likely going to be doing a very similar thing but this time instead of jolly old Britain I知 going to be using bands from North America. However unlike most other DIY record labels compilations of American bands I値l actually be using underground and upcoming bands that are actually good, with maybe a couple of established names thrown in as well; exciting, huh? So buy my CD and I値l make you Emperor of the World, I promise.
