Ideas about services...

I've been asked on occasion to advise people on good ways for them to update and renew site content. I've also found that people find the concept of learning HTML or a complex bit of kit like Dreamweaver rather terrifying.

I have an answer.

What I can do is build the site framework and provide the necessary training to allow the client to take over the eventual running of the site eliminating the need for expensive long term maintenance.

There are a number of ways I can do this...

Option 1

I provide...

  • A framework site built in HTML with all the navigation built in.
  • All the artwork you'll need to make the site look good.
  • I'll train you in the HTML you'll need to update the site effectively.
  • I'll keep copies of all your original files so that if your hard drive/server bites the dust, you'll always be able to restore it.
  • I'll provide you with written instructions so that you'll have a guide to follow .
  • I'll be on hand (metaphorically speaking) at the end of a phone or within e-mails reach to answer your queries and help sort out the challenges you face when running a site on your own for the first time for a length of time specified by you, the customer.

Alternatively...

Option 2

I provide...

  • A framework site built in Dreamweaver with all the bells and whistles as before.
  • Artwork
  • I'll be on hand to guide you.
  • I'll provide written guidelines.
  • I'll keep copies of everything so that your site doesn't die on you.

  • So what's different?

    Well...
You buy a copy of Macromedia Contribute, which is a new bit of software designed for people who don't necessarily want to learn how to build websites. It designed for people who can browse the web and use a text editor like Microsoft Word.

    It really is that easy.

    It's also not very expensive.

So, if you just want to update the content and leave the mechanics to the experts, this could be the perfect solution.

I'll get you started and do everything I can to keep you going.

Option 3

I provide...

  • All of the usual stuff that I provide in the other two options

  • But...

I provide you with the framework site in Microsoft Frontpage.

Getting and running a website really doesn't need to put the frighteners on you and I'm always around to help.

If you'd like to discuss these options, just drop me a line or ring me. I'm listed on Yell.com too!
