And
Now A Word…from Brandon
"Jayson" Ulman |
|
|
An
advance copy of Avril Lavigne's
new disc debuts atop the albums list, as Holly
Valance dips to fourth, and Jem and Mindy
Smith hold their ground. Meanwhile, Jem keeps
control of the TrackList with "They," though a slight reduction in
my interest results in the loss of its bullet. Next week, the top slot should
be wide open, and The Corrs,
Avril and the Beastie Boys
all stand a good chance at taking it. Elsewhere, the top debut comes from Maria Mena (No. 44), a Norwegian
superstar making her US debut with the catchy, off-kilter "You're The
Only One," a gem of an upbeat ditty that sounds just different enough to
stand out from the current crop of chicks with guitars. Expect it to go far
here. And speaking of going far, making some huge gains this week are the Shrek-2-bolstered Counting Crows (48-18), multimedia
darling Jessica Simpson
(33-24), sexy Christina Milian (34-26) and newcomer Sarah Hudson (50-37). Next week, look for likely TrackList debuts from Ashlee Simpson and dance star Andain. + |

Quote of the week: “Your
wife is queer,” Raymond (Ray Romano) to brother
Robert (Brad Garrett) about his spouse Amy (Monica Horan), who was forcing
the family into a group hug, on Everybody Loves
