And
Now A Word…from Brandon
"Jayson" Ulman |
|
|
So I
finally scored "They," the first big single from Jem, and I must say, it wasn't what I was expecting at all. For some reason, I had it in my head that
she was some kind of angsty folk-rocker (that, or the owner of an all-girls
orphanage in a rock star disguise, always looking for guidance from her
supercomputer pal, Cynergy). However, as it turns out, it's more like Dido, only with more musical
complexity. It's a kicky little tune,
and manages to become the week's top debut.
+ Elsewhere, Mario Winans and special guests P. Diddy and Enya take a nice big leap (to 5 from 20), Usher's "Yeah!" succumbs to overkill (sliding 2-8) and there
are unexpected debuts from The Darkness (No. 48) and Prince (No. 49). In 1999, Prince
hit No. 11 with "The Greatest Romance Ever Sold" and just last
year, The Darkness rose to No. 15 with "I Believe In A Thing Called
Love." Welcome back, you lovable
weirdos, you! +++ |
