Christopher Strout came over from Truro England and was shipwrecked on Cape Cod. He was in the fishing business and some of his sons were known as "whale fishermen". Christopher settled in that part of Eastham, Barnstable, MA which was set off as Truro in 1709. He is said to have named Truro MA when the town was founded in 1709.
